New database server, part two

Later this week we will replace our 3-year-old main database server with a fancy new experimental one.

As some might remember, we tried that before last year, only to revert back to the old server a couple months after, due to failing SSD storage.
We are trying a different brand of SSDs this time, but will have our old server running standby just in case.

Expect some downtime while we switch servers, and tune settings.

Update June 11th: we are now running on the new server. Contact us if you notice something is broken.

Retention

We currently have around 280 290 300 days retention, to keep up with Giganews.

You can also access our website through an encrypted SSL connection.
However your browser may give a "this page contains insecure items" warning message. This is because not all of our advertisers support SSL yet. Your connection with us is secure regardless, it is just the connection used by your browser to fetch the banner ads from a third-party's site, that is not.
